Atmos Rewards Just Raised Partner Award Fees 60% — Here's Why It Won't Affect My Flights

Big changes just dropped in the points world. Atmos Rewards — Alaska Airlines' loyalty program — is raising its partner award booking fee by 60% starting July 1, 2026. For most members, this is going to sting. For me? It changes nothing.
Here's what's happening, what it costs you, and how to make sure this fee never touches your bookings.
What Changed
Right now, booking a partner award through Atmos Rewards costs $12.50 per person, per direction. Starting July 1, that fee jumps to $20 per person, per direction.
That's a 60% increase overnight — and it stacks fast.

Round-trip for a couple is now $80 in fees before you even touch the points.
Why This Matters for Partner Awards
Partner awards are how you use Atmos points to book flights on airlines like American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines, and others in the oneworld alliance. These redemptions are some of the best sweet spots in the program — business class to Japan, Brazil, Europe, Southeast Asia — all bookable with Atmos points.
The fee didn't used to be a dealbreaker at $12.50. At $20 per person per direction, it's starting to add up, especially for families or anyone booking premium cabin awards on long-haul routes.
The Hidden Unlock: Atmos Rewards Summit Card
Here's what you probably don't know: the Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Card completely waives this fee. Every time. Unlimited bookings.
As a Summit cardholder, I pay $0 in partner award booking fees — before July 1, after July 1, and every booking in between. This fee increase is literally irrelevant to my trips.
To qualify for the waiver:
- The points used must come from your account (the Summit cardholder's)
- You must pay the taxes and fees on the ticket with your Summit card
That's it. No cap on how many bookings qualify. No annual limit. Just waived — every time.
Act Fast If You Don't Have the Summit Card
The window is closing. If you book partner awards regularly and you're not a Summit cardholder, every booking after July 1 costs you more. Frequent travelers may find the fee waiver helps offset some of the card's annual cost ($395/year). Consider this:
- Partner award booking fee waiver (unlimited — worth $80+ per round-trip booking for two)
- 3x points on all purchases
- First class companion fare
- And the usual lineup of travel perks
Travelers who frequently book partner awards may find the fee waiver more valuable after this change. The math just got easier.
Bottom Line
Atmos Rewards just made partner award bookings more expensive for most members. If you book even two round-trip partner awards a year for two people, you're looking at $140+ in fees annually — that's $35 more per booking, four times a year.
With the Summit card? Still $0. Always.
This is one example of how card benefits can affect the overall cost of award travel. Not just the points — the fees you never have to pay.
Atmos Rewards partner award booking fee increases to $20 per person per direction effective July 1, 2026. Summit card partner award booking fee waiver requires points to be redeemed from the cardholder's account and taxes/fees paid with the Summit card. No annual limit on fee waivers.
